About This Event

Musical Style: Jazz Every performance by OUT OF THE BLUE is a unique experience, as their rotating cast of musicians brings fresh interpretations and dynamic energy to the stage. New music by the band ensures that each show is infused with new life and innovative twists, echoing the eclectic and adventurous spirit of Blue Note. The ensemble masterfully reshapes jazz traditions, blending them with modern influences to craft an unforgettable night of music. This show’s theme will be built around the Sonny Rollins record Vol. 2 on Blue Note. Sonny Rollins is a hero of mine who has had an eight decade career in music and we are excited to pay tribute to him. We are also happy to be joined by the great trombonist Stafford Hunter as part of our quintet for the evening. Stafford has performed, recorded and toured all over the world with the likes of McCoy Tyner, Roy Hargrove, Donald Byrd, Orrin Evans, the Mingus Big Band, Frank Foster, Clark Terry, Reggie Workman, Amy Winehouse, and was a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra for 21 years. We look forward to sharing this music with you! A passionate performer known for his soulful and dynamic style, Ian Skaronea is an artist to watch on the Denver Jazz scene.
