Musical Style: Jazz 8 clap reunites UCLA alums Adam Waite (piano) and Joseph Petrasek (drums) for their first set together in over 2 decades. This duo led the UCLA Big Band rhythm section, performing with L.A.’s finest jazz musicians including Kenny Burrell and Claudia Acuña. Adam is the Minister of Music at Denver’s historic Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, with his jazz-inspired arrangements performed by the Colorado Symphony, I’m With Her, and Broadway Cares. Joe is Principal Percussionist of the Atlanta Symphony and Principal Percussionist of the Colorado Music Festival. They are excited to return to their jazz roots with this special one-night-only set of originals and standards. Joining them are two other musicians equally at home in jazz and classical. Leena Waite is a violinist in Opera Colorado, subs with the Colorado Symphony & Colorado Ballet, co-leads ReSound with Kali Paguirigan and Full SAIL with Adam, Shane Endsley and Ike Sturm. She has recorded with Jenny Scheinman, Alan Ferber, Neko Case and performed with Ms. Lauryn Hill, Opiuo, Ben Folds, and Gregory Alan Isakov. Nicholas Recuber (bass) is Assistant Principal Bassist of the Colorado Symphony and Adjunct Bass Faculty at Lamont School of Music. He’s performed with such artists as Gregory Porter, Cynthia Erivo, Ingrid Michaelson, Steve Vai and toured on electric and upright with Nathaniel Rateliff.
